Terms and Conditions

Welcome to BagWatch. By using our application, you agree to the following terms and conditions. Please read them carefully.

1. Nature of Service

BagWatch is designed to act as a theft deterrent using your device’s motion sensors and audio output. It is intended to alert you and bystanders to unauthorized movement of your belongings.

2. Disclaimer of Liability (No Guarantee)

BagWatch is not an insurance policy or a replacement for professional security. We do not guarantee that your property will not be stolen, damaged, or lost while using the app.

BagWatch and its developers are not responsible for any financial loss, property loss, or personal distress resulting from a theft, even if the application was active at the time of the incident.

The effectiveness of the deterrent depends on environmental factors, such as ambient noise levels and the thief’s reaction.

3. User Responsibilities

To ensure the best possible performance, you are responsible for:

  • Placement: Placing the device in an optimal position (near the top of the bag) so sensors can detect movement and the siren is audible.
  • Battery Life: Ensuring your device has sufficient battery power for the duration of the monitoring.
  • Permissions: Granting the app necessary permissions for Motion, Audio, and Background activities.
  • Volume: Notifying yourself that while the app forces maximum volume during an alarm, software or hardware malfunctions could interfere with sound output.

4. Technical Limitations

You acknowledge that the app’s performance depends on hardware sensors and software stability.

False alarms may occur due to extreme weather, heavy vibrations, or accidental bumps.

Background monitoring may be interrupted by iOS system updates, incoming calls, or other high-priority system tasks.

5. No Emergency Services Connection

BagWatch does not automatically contact the police, emergency services, or beach security. It is a local deterrent only.

6. Privacy

We value your privacy. Your motion sensor data is processed locally on your device and is not uploaded to any servers. We do not track your location history unless explicitly required for background persistence features.

7. Acceptance of Risk

By pressing “Start Alarm,” you accept all risks associated with leaving your belongings unattended in a public space.
