BagWatch (“we,” “our,” or “us”) is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information when you use the BagWatch mobile application.
1. Information We Collect
BagWatch is designed with a “Privacy First” philosophy. Our data collection practices are as follows:
The app accesses your device’s motion sensors (accelerometer and gyroscope) to detect movement. This data is processed entirely on your device in real-time. We do not collect, store, or transmit this data to any external servers.
The app uses Core Motion (accelerometer, gyroscope, altimeter, pedometer, and activity recognition) to detect bag movement. BagWatch does not use GPS or request Location Services. All sensor data is processed on your device in real time and is not transmitted to our servers.
If you enable voice alerts, you may record short audio clips that are saved locally on your device only. We do not upload, access, or share your recordings.
Deactivation of the alarm may utilize Face ID or Touch ID. This process is handled securely by the iOS system. BagWatch never has access to your actual biometric prints or facial maps.
2. Use of Information
Because we do not collect your data, we do not use it for marketing, profiling, or advertising. The sensor access is used solely for the functional purpose of triggering the theft deterrent alarm.
3. Data Storage and Retention
Your trial start date, plan expiry date, purchase history, alarm history, and app settings are stored locally on your device (via UserDefaults) to manage your 7-day free trial. Subscription status is managed by Apple and synced to your device via your Apple ID.
We do not maintain any user databases or cloud storage for your personal data.
4. Third-Party Services
Payments and subscriptions are processed through Apple’s In-App Purchase system. Apple manages subscription status and may collect information related to your transactions; please refer to Apple’s Privacy Policy for more details.
We do not use third-party tracking or analytics tools that monitor your behavior within the iOS app.
Our public website at bagwatch.dinno.io uses Google Analytics 4 (provided via Google Firebase) to understand aggregate traffic — for example page views, App Store link clicks, demo video plays, and contact form submissions. Google may collect device and usage data as described in Google’s Privacy Policy. This is used to improve the website, not to profile individual app users.
5. Children’s Privacy
BagWatch does not knowingly collect any personal information from children. Since no data is transmitted to us, the app is safe for users of all ages.
6. Changes to This Policy
We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by updating the “Effective Date” at the top of this page.
